COAST GUARD ASSISTS VESSEL TAKING ON WATERATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Coast Guard crews aboard a rescue helicopter and a rescue boat assisted in the de-watering and safe escort of a vessel that was taking on water about 22 nautical miles southeast of Cape May, N.J., this morning.
The vessel, a 23-foot center console pleasure craft, had three people aboard.
The Coast Guard immediately directed the launch of a rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City and a rescue boatcrew from Station Cape May. Once on scene, the aircrew aboard the HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter lowered a de-watering pump to the vessel as well as their aviation survival technician, or rescue swimmer, who was able to de-water the boat.
Once the vessel was sufficiently de-watered, the rescue crew aboard the Station Cape May 47-foot motor lifeboat escorted the vessel safely ashore; the vessel was moored at Utsch's Marina in Cape May.
Glad to hear everyone was ok.
