    Shark fishing help /questions ??

I am down in the obx for the next couple of weeks. I brought my stepdad who is from ohio and he wanted to shark fish. I live in the richmond, va area and i fish the ches bay mostly. Never targeted sharks so any advice on where to start or any advice on rigs and bait would be awesome. I planned to use fishfindr rigs and some cut bunker for bait. Big chum bag and a minhaden oil slick to bring them in.
Thanks in advance for any advice or pointers.

I am in Florida, so I dont know the laws up there, but check to be sure you can chum. Its not really needed on beach fishing here however, as there are plenty of sharks, and the chum doesnt go the right direction unless your in a river, or a boat, or off a jetty.

    does it matter?
Are you fishing from the beach or a boat? If from a boat, see if you can find a shrimp boat to slip in behind while they are working. You can see the sharks following in the "chum slick" they are creating while culling their catch. Drop in some baited hooks behind them, but not too close so you don't get hung in the rigging, and hold on. It is a great way to catch them and someone else gets to do the chumming, keeping your boat clean.

Fishing from boat, and there are no shrimp boats around here. Plenty of crab boats, however i have not seen any working. I guess I will find a wreck and setup on or close to it.
    thanks guys

    Bluefish

can you find some bluefisn this time of year down there ? If so fish them live and as stirp baits . Make sure when you fillet them you get the the nice white belly strips.

Head off shore and look for a temp break on structure.

Dont overchum, you trying to get there attention not feed them.
    How's your bait ?
