Shallow water sharks

The shark fishing is just about as hot as it gets here in the Morehead City Cape Lookout area. Many anglers are taking advantage of fishing behind the shrimp trawlers, which is the best shark fishing that you can ever imagine for sheer numbers. Each trawler can have from 20 to 50 sharks behind the boat when they haul the nets back. This is very exciting for the charters since most of these sharks are finning and thrashing on the surface just behind the boats and within a few feet of our boat. These sharks are from 3 ft. to 10 ft. in size. Blacktips, blacknose, spinners, bulls, duskys and the occasional tiger shark. Most of the sharks are from 50 to 150 lbs. and are purfect for large spinning outfits and fly rods. They sure keep the charters happy! Some of the best fishing that we have is back inside the inlets on the flats. We anchor up, set up a chum line and catch all the sharks we need in 3 to 4 ft. of water. These shards are in the 3 to 6 ft. range mostly, good light tackle and fly fishing for anglers who want to catch a large fish but not have to go way offshore.

I believe a 4.0 Lamson would do a good job, you might even be able to handle them on a 3.5.
