    Saturday OC Shark Report

Headed out of OC on Saturday with wife Danielle, Franky, Jen and Patrick (newbie on the Blackjack) for some mako hunting. Was planning on fishing the southern sausages but due to the flotilla on the horizon when approaching, we set up just outside the Fingers miles from the closest boat. With a well layed plan and only the freshest chum the crew managed to catch 3 brown sharks and a blue shark before making the captain crank on the 5th bite. Luck me, up came a nice mako that the crew gracefully put to bed (by a skillfull wire and gaff job by Franky, erratic shooting by Patrick and a final lassoo by Danielle). The fish was a 75 inch male that weighed 151lbs. Fast trolled toward home for a while and picked up around 1:00 to get in and cleaned up. Had an awesome dinner at the Marlin Club with some great friends to end the day! Most of the bites were on the long bait and came mixed on bluefish and mackeral. I was able to feed the mako a bluefish fillet before he ate the mackeral bait (you know just to fatten him up a bit). Pictures to follow.

You forgot to mention that you expertly used the magnetic metallic impulse of Franky's pliers to entice the fish into the slick as well!!

Thanks for a fun day- really enjoyed it.

Cool deal, Eric. No mention of the Pirate?

I stopped by Bahia the other weekend for a few chillies and didn't see your boat? Were you out fishing or did you move her?

Oh, I didn't forget throwing your pliers at that shark!

Larry, No Pirate this trip, he was fishing on another boat. We are in the same slip - must have been fishing when you stopped by.
