Despite the grim forecast we left again this morning at 430am. At the inlet there were a few boats going the other direction but we figured we would see for ourselves. It didnt seem too bad, a little snotty at the inlet, but very fishable outside. they were calling for 5 to 7 seas and most of the day it was closer to 3 to 5's and the forecast scared all but a few. We were the only ones that ventured to the east side. We had our first hookup at 915. Bite was on the planer and 20 minutes later we boated a good fish. We figured the fish was good but he ended up being extremely fat and dressed out way better than we would have thought. Final tally on that fish was 92'' and cored out an a ridiculously large for the size 417#. The after messing with him lines went back out and around noon we had another bite that went tight, stretched line and peeled drag for several minutes before slacking. We cranked in to find that we had lost 300 yds. of mainline and we got 150' back that was chafed really bad. We had another little mystery pull about an hour after that then pulled them and headed for the barn. The seas had laid off by noon enough to shoot across the shoals. We had the only fish I heard of today and as far as I know there were only a handful that went out. For the past three days we are 2 for 4 on the bluefins, so it isnt a super bite, but there are some fish to be caught.
