Left NC Friday morning with my fishing partner of 20+ years for WPB and a few days of chasing the pointy nosed ones and some much needed R&R. Had a boat lined up out of Sailfish Marina on Singer Island for Saturday and Sunday. Lines off early and headed south out of Lake Worth inlet for a short run, setting out the kite for our first drift I look off to my left and see a familiar name on an Albie with a crusty ole skipper barking orders at the crew – none other than the legendary Deep himself!
I figured we must be in the right spot with the company we had and it didn’t take long to tie into # 1 for the trip.
We ended up going 3 for 4 on Saturday and got our azzes beat up pretty well by the end of the day.
An added bonus of a smoker king caught on a mono rig.
Day 2 was a bit calmer with an East wind and the fish were cooperating as well- we ended up with 2 double releases and going 5 for 5 for the day. Throw in a bunch of dolphin, boneeters, and a few kings and we had a killer trip. By 1:00 Sunday Miss Sue told us she could not take another turn on a fish – she was slam wore out. Those Florida Sails can be a bull headed to say the least.
Flew back to NC in time for Christmas dinner with the family. This was one heck of a trip and a close out to our 2007 season- might have to make it an annual event for Miss Sue and I.
Best of luck to all in 08!
Cheers,
Mike

There was a wad of them holding in there. That was sure a great condition with those swells that day. I'll take that stuff any day...
