Sailfish when?
when do the Sails start to show up within 15-20 miles off the beach in N.C Atlantic Beach/Emerald Isle areas
I got lucky last year and caught one off my skiff and I would like to target them this year
what baits do you think are best

Thanks, Capt Dan

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
Reel,
You might want to repost in BOX's World since alot of NC fishermen are there. Down my way I caught one in July about 5 mi off the beach with a pogie slow trolling for kings. I always have a circle hook rig handy that i can put on a rod in case one comes up in our spread so I can pitch a bait back to him. We generally don't target them when we fish but if we see one jumping we will try to catch it.

If Ignorance is bliss, Why aren't more people happy?
July/August is the time they generally show up inshore around MHC...
The Captain Eddie Sailfish Tournament is late July out of Wrightsville - This is limited to 20 miles off - Capt Lee can fill you in on details.
