    Costa Rica Advice - Honeymoon

    Shoe or Anyone,

Getting hitched later this year. Honeymoon in Costa Rica for sure! Was thinking Los Suenos. Where did you go/stay. She wants sloths, rainforest tour, etc. I want that as well but mainly I want FISHING!!!

What's your advice on location or anyone else have an opinion for that matter.

    Thanks!

    DH-
First off congrats! A CR wedding was definitely something that we're going to look back on with fond memories. In terms of yours, it all depends on what exactly you want to do, and what you like. For us, the idea of Los Suenos, though very nice, was defeating the purpose of going to a foreign country and experiencing the country.

For us, Quepos was much more our style- much less developed, but still had a range of cool places to go and see. Every day at 4:30 we had monkeys coming over to our pool (three kinds), there was a 3 toed sloth that lived in the tree next to our place, a "pet" iguana at the house that just about ate fruit out of our hands, and the fishing fleet was everything that we wanted. We aren't the type to rent a 60' sport fisher. We like the smaller boats, catching bait, the whole process basically.

For the actual wedding we used a wedding coordinator and she organized everything. The ceremony was held on the beach at Manuel Antonio at sunset. It was just perfect. From there we went home and had a chef prepare dinner and a bartender serve us drinks. It was absolutely incredible.

I'd be happy to answer any questions that you might have about do's/don'ts in the Quepos area, just send me a PM.

    Again, congrats and good luck!

Like Shoe said if you really want to experience the country Quepos is the place to be. Los Suenos is nice but it a sprawling resort, Quepos is a small town nearby to rainforest/national park of Manuel Antonio. If you have any questions or need any help booking anything let me know.

    Quepos March 2012

    Hey Shoe,

Loved the report. I've just booked a trip for March/April. I'll be staying at Si Como No and was hoping to fish the surf often. Can you tell me where
you fished. Beach name, location, etc...

I also honeymooned in CR back in 2000 and can't wait to take my second trip. We were in the south on the Osa Peninsula back in 2000. Loved it!

Hope all is well with you. Look forward to hearing your response.

Wow this report was a blast from the past! Adam, there isn't an easy way to tell you were the beach is, so I went to Google Earth and got the lat/lon. The spot I was at was 9*23'45.87" N by 84*09'32.79" W (I'm using the * symbol because I don't know how to type the 'degree' symbol). To get there, find the road that has Los Altos (it will be a right hand turn off the main road as you're traveling towards Manuel Antonio from Quepos), and go down that until you see a left hand steep road. That road will have lots of switchbacks and some steep sections, but it will lead you down to the ocean. The lat/lon that I gave you is for the big rock on the beach. I caught the roosters just off of that rock. Have fun!

I really appreciate you taking the time to look this up and send it to me. I will make it a point to put together a nice report when I get back with all my fishing adventures. Merry Christmas!!
