I have a question on safety.
I have seen in the past life rafts for sale that are past the repack date. Why would you ever buy one that is past the date and not have it repacked? If the worst were ever to occur I would want to be certain that the thing to hold my ass out of the water was in tip top shape. Most of these have a 3 year expiration. Why not get it checked? I don't know of anything on my boat that has the sustainability to withstand multiple dunkings while strapped to the bow for three years. Every year I take the windlass off my boat, disassemble it, grease and lubricate it. That thing gets totally caked in salt. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me to not have these things checked. If you aren't going to maintain it properly you might as well not even buy one. You'd be better off hanging on to a cooler.
