Hello everyone, no we didn't leave just been a little busy and with the gaffers jumping in the boat its been a little crazy. I thought I'd try something a little different. I went out to the garage and started tying witches, yes some blue and white and then I thought, hum.... what are the ugliest mixes I can put together so I tied up some of the nastiest stuff I could think of. Guess with the bite it really don't make any difference but I am going to try it again when it gets slow.
Anyway, we get to the boat at Oh my god O'clock Shane and I ready to go kill something, 5:30 still no party. WHAT THE HECK! Don't they know there are tons of gaffers waiting for a cold bath in the box, daylight is burning man, the motor is grumbling, turn me loose from the dock!!! We finally get them on board and were off. Man I was dying, our last trip we had 3 Blue ones come crashing up the middle but just wouldn't eat, S$%^!!!!! And the was an 800lber caught yesterday, let me at em!! I pulled a couple of Spanish and horses out of the freezer and made them as pretty as I could on the ride out. I just want a shot today.
Shane pulled the throttle back at 8:00, 30 fthms. I dump 2 lines in and getting the 3rd ready and it started. I think it was 2 hrs later when I finally got the whole spread out and that didn't last long. Shane had pulled along a rip and it was on. The sneaky devils, we were watching them, would swim up suck the tail in to the hook and pull the bally off. so I sliced off some belly meat and replaced the ballys. That did the trick. They were coming so fast and so many misses we lost count of what we had in the box. OK WE DIDN'T, I did, I know I'm supposed to keep track but it was chaos, and allot of fun. One of the crew had watched me rig the big stuff and was anxious for it to go in. I went below and pulled it out, YEAH he said. Shane pointed her to the deep. Today was not the day to go there. We hit 50 fthms and when I took a step I'd come 2 ft off the deck. A weeee bit chunky so we had to turn back to the fishable stuff, not today. I didn't give up though, lots of blues have been caught in close this year but not today. So I've blathered on long enough but.... God I love this job!!!!
