Hubris, I think the point Franky was making was that there are times that you have to step on it a little to catch the fish, not every fish just some of them.If you have a double on and want to catch them both or a fish with a little attitude there are times you have to put a little water on the deck, not sink the boat, hell if it gets to deep just open the fish door it will run out!! We have all backed down a touch hard at times but 99.9% of the time the boat is still floating after the fish is released!!

I have also been along side some of the best in the world when their transom's have been buried. No dreaming here, just reality.

on a serious note , have you ever had to back down on a fish to catch it? have you ever been spooled by a fish? or do you just think oh well , we'll find another one maybe, come on!!

Boat: Last Call
Home Port: Ocean City, MD
Best Catch: triple slam in Venezuela 1997 or 31 sails in a day Mexico 98
Occupation: Marine Surveyor and Charterboat Captain
not bed, just shut down the computer

Cancun 1997 aboard the Reel Tease with Capt. Jay Champlin 2 months (other boats in the MArina at the time included the Temptress with Chip Schaeffer, The Pelican with Arch Bracher etc)

Venezuela 1997 aboard the Reel Tease 3 months (along side Luis Suarez on the Exile, Dave Noling on the Courtesan etc)

Cancun 1998 on the Inger with Capt Eddie Berger 5 months (Along side Arch, Buckshot, Jojo Joachimowski, Robie Valko etc etc etc), followed up by a Month in Marsh Harbour

Venezuela 1998 on the Reel Tease 3 months (Chip was in Venezuela this time, so was Pat Kelly on the Elixir and a host of others).

Cancun 1999 on the Inger again 5 months (Eric Blanks on the Ravenous was next to us this stretch, and the host of MX regulars)

Venezuela October of 99 fishing on the Ravenous with Capt Eric Blanks (I will be honest I was riding along most of the time helping Blaine Champlin who was Primero Marinero on the rig)

There are over 1200 on these trips alone, I have not touched Ocean City, South Florida, any of the trips to Costa Rica or aywhere else I have gone for a week or month over the years. I have fished Ocean city every summer since 1986 as a mate or Captain (actually a few years before that, but I did more sleeping than fishin in the early years) and have done something boating or fishing related year round since 1995. You don't have to be old to have "been there and done that"

And no I don't bury the transom on every fish. I catch alot of them without ever using reverse. But have I buried the transom, yes more than a couple of times. Have I ever sunk a boat because of it? No. Was I ever concerned about the amount of water in a boat, yes, shit happens. Your comments to Spencer hit home with me cause he is a friend of mine who is an excellent fisherman who has caught a lot, I mean A LOT of fish. He is an excellent boat handler and a great fisherman, who trust me has no need to get into an ego contest with anybody when it comes to this game.

Alex, you're argueing with the wrong crowd here friend. It appears you are more comfortable and more experienced discussing fine art while sipping on a Eastern European Vodka in a crystal glass, sitting a golf cart on the PC complex so everyone can see you than running down a stupid fish backwards 40 miles from land-- some things you just don't understand and somethings we just don't get
