Thumbs up RUN-OFF Offshore Report 8/18/07

Today we had a 3 boat group fishing. We had 6 guys with us today. Bill, Brian, Ron, Mark, Doug and Colin. They are all from the Raleight area. Most of them had never been offshore before.

The wind was honking all night last night and did not stop till this morning about 3 am.

We idled out of the inlet on past the first set of cans outside the inlet. We put our Span Mack stuff out until the winds and waves died down a little bit. About 8:00 we picked up and all headed offshore.

Started fishing about 9:30 and the seas were not too bad. Lots of grass out there today all over.

First fish was a dirty ole Stinky on the DFA. We took him out of the gene pool though. LOL

Next fish was a King about 25 lbs on the DFA.

We caught a Gaffer about 45 minutes later.

A few minutes later the right long pops out....I gave it a few cranks to get it up on the surface and wait in FS. All the sudden I felt a little preasure and I let her rip. A few seconds later we came tight on a Sailfish. He was taking some serious line too. I gave Mark the rod in the chair and all the sudden the right flat starts to get a nibble.

I ran over and picked it up and put it in FS and fed him. A few seconds later we came tight on #2. Brian was the angler on this one. We cleared all the stuff and went back on em. We got Marks fish first. Pulled him in and got a quick picture. Then we went on back on #2. A few minutes later I snatched him in the boat for a quick pic.

After that we picked up a Wahoo on the bridge pole and then another Gaffer on the left long. We ened up catching another King and another Stinky later on.

It ended up being a much better day then when we started out.

Everyone had a great time and then all are taking some fish home with them too.

    We ended up with 1 Wahoo, 2 Mahi's, 2 Kings, 2 Cuda's and 2 Sailfish releases.

Not exactly a hot day of fishing, but we will take what we can get.

I did not have my camera with me today so I did not get any pictures. Colin is going to email me some when he gets home though.

Once I get them I will post them up.

Sounds pretty hot to me, especially with the wind.

Saw the boat gone yesterday, wondered how you did.

Maybe not exactly a "hot" day of fishing but any day you get two shots
on the saildogs and get two releases that is hot. 100% is as good as it
gets. Sounds to me like preparation met opportunity.

Pretty work on a tough day.
