Today we had Ken and Melissa from Hickory, NC and Ken and Shang from NY fishing with us. Melissa and Shang are sisters from Hickory, NC.
It was Ken and Shang's first time out. Ken and Melissa had been offshore fishing before. Ken also has his own boat that he fishes.
It was a pretty decent weather day today. 2-5' like the weather man said it would be. After 10:00 it laid right out like a lake.
We headed out to the deep first thing in the morning looking for HIM.We set lines out about 7:15 and started looking.
About 10 minutes later Captain Brian yells "There he is John, That's him...Left short"![]()
Clip pops and rod tip bends slightly and springs back....I crank the bait to the surface and she came back on it. I fed her for a few seconds and pushed the drag up and started cranking as it came tight......
White Marlin grey hounding towards the boat for 2 jumps, then she peels off to the starboard side. I get everyone moving and clearing the rods. A minute later we are backing down on her hard. She is jumping, flipping and going crazy. Hickory Ken was cranking for all he was worth with NY Ken on the chair. A few minutes later we had her on the leader swimming next to the boat for the picture time. After they got their pictures she swam off to the deep blue. She was just lit up like crazy as she was swimming with us. Beautiful fish It was a first for Ken. Ken is going to email me some pictures when they get home from their vacation. Once I get them I will post them up.
After that we looked again for a little while and then we moved in to get some meat. Captain Brian hooked a Wahoo on the bridge pole. NY Ken got to reel that in. It was his first Wahoo ever.
Captain Brian found us the Gaffers as well as the bailers. We caught them here and there throughout the day. The bailers were not staying with the boat like normal. They would hang around for a few minutes, we would catch a handfull and then they would leave. We were able to do that twice.
Around 1:00 THE BEAST had me pick the stuff up real quick. We moved out to the deep again and went looking.
Not more then 20 minutes go by and a Saildog comes in on the Right Short. I fed him and went to cranking....Line popped out of the clip and came tight and he was on. Jumping all over the place. All the sudden Captain Brian yells "Right flat" I ran over there with the right short in my hand and fed him but he would not take it.
Mean while everyone is clearing rods. I got NY Ken in the chair and gave him the rod and he went to cranking. I helped Hickory Ken finish clearing the stuff and Captain Brian went to backing down. After a lot of jumps and tail walking we pulled the Sailfish in for a few quick pictures and to get the hook out, then he swam off on his own to fight another day. It was a first for NY Ken as well.
Needless to say they got what they came for. They had 2 coolers full of meat and they released a couple bill fish.
We ended up with 26 Mahi, 1 Wahoo, I Stinky, 1 White Marlin and 1 Sailfish.
Once again, Captain Brian Harrington shows why he is THE BEAST.Freaking amazing how he puts us on the fish every day we go out.

Every single day, he is on his stuff like no other. If we have a bad catch, its my fault....not his. He does his job and gets us the bites each and every time we go out. I think he must be part fish.![]()
Captain Brian, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of it all. I can't tell you what an honor it is to fish with you. I still wonder how I am so fortunate to have this opportunity. I look forward to each new day becauase I know its going to be special. Thank you my friend.
Anyways, if you want to catch billfish....then get your boys together and lets go fishing on The RUN-OFF. The billfish bite is heating up more and more each day. Captain Brian will put you on em and that is a guarantee!!!!! Our last 4 trips we have seen at least 1 billfish and we have caught at least 1 on 3 of those 4 trips.
We are open this Friday and Sunday, so give THE BEAST a call!!
