Thumbs up RUN-OFF Offshore Report 5/5/07

Today we had Mike, Chris, Chuck, Buck, Jerry and Jim fishing with us. The seas were pretty sloppy today and the wind was a blowing.

Started out the day with a Wahoo 5 minutes into it.

Then we caught a couple Gaffers

A little while later I was about to change the left short rigger bait and Captain Brian says...."leave it there for a few minutes, I am coming up on one of my spots"

    AYE AYE Captiano

5 minutes later we get 4 Tuna bites and come tight on 3. Both shorts and the right flat. All 3 got a free boat ride home.

Captain Brian worked the area for a while longer and we got 3 more bites and came tight on 2. Both of them met the stell baby!!

Next came a few more Gaffers at the same time. While they were reeling in those 2 I cranked in the right flat and Captain Brian said "he's right on ya John" I dumped it for a couple seconds and we hooked up with another Gaffer. Handed the rod over to Jerry in the last chair. Then I went I brought in 1 of the Mahi we hooked earlier.

Next thing you know Captain Brian hollers down "he's on the left teaser, hey you....get that bait over to the teaser". LOL Jim grabs the flat line bait that we cleared on that side of the boat and he drops it back. Mean while I am leadering the second fish. Jim gets this Mahi hooked up all on his own. AWESOME!!!!

Jim sits down in the chair and goes to work on him. About 5 minutes later I sunk the gaff in a 32 lb Bull. High 5's all around.

After that we got 2 more tuna bites. We caught em both, 1 Yellow and 1 Black. The Blackfin was about 13" long. hehehe He would have made a good bait But, they all taste the same. LOL

Overall it was a rough day out, but the fishing was pretty good.

Captain Brian was hunting tuna's and he found em as he always does. He also put us in the Wahoo's and Mahi. 2 of the Mahi today were 30 and 32 lbs. The rest were all pretty decent size gaffers as well ranging from 15 to 25lbs.

They ended up with 396 lbs of fish for the day.

We ended up with 6 Yellowfin, 1 Blackfin, 10 Gaffers and 2 Wahoo's.

The guys did an awesome job working together as a team. They all had a great time and they have lots of fish for the cooler.

Captain Brian, he is the man. He put us in em just like he always does. 1 thing that I don't worry about is if we are going to catch fish. Fishing with Captain Brian I know beyond a doubt, we are going to get em sooner or later. Only thing is when your fishing with THE BEAST....its usually sooner and later. LOL

    Thanks for everything Brian

Pretty work guys. When it is sloppy like today, nothing makes up for it like catching fish.

Cool fishing and reporting, as usual big John.
There is no doubt that Brian will find his share each and every time out.

Nice to catch a glimpse of the lovely Mrs Harrington on the first shot.
