Today we had George, his son George and his son's fiancee Kristin, and George's Aunt and Uncle Jean and Kurt. They had fished with Captain Brian on The RUN-OFF last year.
It was a beautiful day on the water. Hard to believe how calm it was after how nasty it was out there yesterday.
We picked away at the Mahi's throughout the morning through lunch. Kurt caught one today that was 38 lbs. He had a head on him like a 5 gallon bucket. LOL![]()
Kristin caught one later in the day that was 25 lbs which was her biggest ever as well.
About 10:00 Captain Brian hollers...."Blue Marlin on the left long rigger.....feed em feed em" I was right there to drop it back instantly. After a few seconds Captain Brian told me to "lock it up and crank like hell"So I did......
We came tight and drag started peeling off. I keep reeling and reeling as the drag was coming off just like the Captain told me. Meanwhile I had everyone start clearing everything. He started grey hounding away from us with 3 jumps. After that he started thrashing his head back and forth over and over. After about a minute of all that going on the hook pulled.![]()
He was about a 200 lb fish.
Immediately after the hook pulled on that Blue, another Blue popped up right behind the right flat line about 180lbs. George was right there and ready to go but just as fast as she appeared she faded away. The fish was not lit up much and I guess was just up checking out the action.
We also saw 2 White Marlin today as well while we were out looking.
2 Blues and 2 Whites in the spread isn't too shabby I guess![]()
Just one more reason why Captain Brian is the man. He went looking and he found em. It just was not meant to be today for us.
So, after that excitment we got our stuff back out and got back to it.
We had 1 bite from noon to 2:10. About 2:10 we got hit by a couple Mahi on the flats.
After we got them in the boat we got hit on the left short and the right long. While they were fighting those fish we were slipping more baits out. By the time we got both of those fish in the boat....Lil George was hooked up with another Mahi. While we were fighting that one Big George slipped a bait out to another Mahi tha he hooked. Then we got hit on the other long rigger with another one.
We ended up sticking 7 more in a row in that last 10 minute run.
What can I say besides AWESOME!!!! George and George were a great help in the pit today. They cleared lines, reeled in fish, coiled up used rigs, got out fresh rigs, put lines out and helped clean the boat.
This family was on their A game today. It was a great pleasure to fish with them today.
We had an absolute blast today. Everyone got to crank in lots of fish and now they have plenty for the dinner table too.![]()
We ended up with 22 Mahi and 1 lonely Stinky![]()
Captain Brian, what can I say dude. You are the man, THE BEAST!!! Its a priviledge to fish with you my friend. There is nobody I would rather fish with in the world!!! Thanks for everything you do.
