We left the dock about 5:10 this morning. He a great Husband and Wife family with their 2 kids today from Virginia. The kids were 17 and 11, couple of good young men. They wanted tuna's, so The BEAST knew right away what had to be done.
Headed up the beach this morning. The BEAST put us right on an awesome rip. 8 degree change right on it too. Worked it for a couple hours with not even a sniff.
Ended up working up the beach another good ways and The BEAST says, "John, get ready its all going to happen at once". Aye Aye Capitano BEAST. He saw the YFT's jumping all around us. He was marking them on the scope and letting me know what he was seeing. Marked them for about an hour before we got our first nibble. Bridge pole bent over and started to scream. The BEAST passed it down to me and into the chair wen the Father. Up came a 25 pound King Mack. Not exactly what we wanted but we got the skunk out of the boat.
Get the stuff back out and The BEAST is telling me its going to happen any minute John. Like I didn't know that. After all, I am fishing with The BEAST. Its not a matter of if its going to happen....its when.
ZIPPPPP...ZiIPPPPPPPPPP....ZIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP went the right teaser then....
BAMM, Right flat goes to screaming, left flat goes off, then both short riggers comed down.....and then the right long rigger. 5 on baby, can't be anything but the tuners. 1 pulled off, 1 broke the wire leader....3 in the boat.
Get the stuff back out and a few minutes later both flats go off. Caught em both.
Set the worms back out, 20 minutes later both flats and the right short go down and start to make that beautiful noise of screaming drags. Anglers in all 3 chairs tight on the tuners. Almost get to the wind-on leader and about a 12' shark every bit of 700 lbs swallows this 35 lb tuna whole and cuts us off. LOL, not much you can do on that one. We got the other 2 a few minutes later.
Put the worms back out and before I can get the last flat line pined down the Yellow bellys are chewing on my damn teaser again. Just as I get to that sided of the boat, the right flat and right short start gettting it. A few minutes later we had another pair in the boat.
The BEAST says..."John, get the stuff out quick here we only get 15 minutes laft. SO, fresh worms all around to finish out the day. 15 mintues later The BEAST says..."start with the long and crank em in" Aye Aye Captain BEAST. Just as my hand gets on the handle of the long rigger. The Tuners are over there malesting my right teaser again.......then....
Bammmmmmmmmmmmm. Right flat goes down, left flat goes down, then both shorts come down. 4 on going in 4 different directions. A few minutes later and after some over and unders to keep them from tangling the first fish comes to the boat and into the box he goes. Long story short here, we finished up 4 for 4 that last round. The 3rd fish in got raped by a big Mako on the way in and it took about the last 12" off of 1 tuna.
AWESOME day on the water, warm, great company and catching fish on top of that. The kids had a blast and so did their parents.
We ended up with 13 Yellow belly's and 1 King.
Most of the tunas were 40+lbs. We had about 3 that were 50+. 6 that were 40-45lbs.
We had 560 lbs of fish today.
The fish box lid on The RUN-OFF would not close all the way. I had to secure it with a safetly line on the way home. LOL
Anyways, we had 7 bites on the teaser today. Broke 2 fish off, lost 1 to a big shark and had about 20 bites total today.
The BEAST did it again. No big surprise though. He is the man no doubt about it. RUN-OFF Sportfishing baby.
Thanks Captain Brian for an awesome day of fishing. I had an absolute ball. Here are a few pics for you guys.
I'm speechless!!!!!!! Way to bring the meat to the boat. I was thinking a trip out of O'coke today would have been nice, sounds like I might have been right.
I expect nothing less from you two, congrats on an awesome day. Man a 8 degree break with makos swimming all over, John we need to hook the boat up and go down there for a few weeks .
