We had our last offshore trip of our season yesterday. Now its time to change over for the Bluefins.
We had Ed and his son Zack who fished with us a couple weeks ago. They brought along Paul, Jack and Brauk.
It was a nice ride out with the W NW wind. Unfortunately we had to go against it on the way home and that was pretty bumpy.
Fishing has been pretty slow for everyone the this week. The last couple weeks the wind has been blowing like crazy. Nobody was able to get out until early this week. The wahoo's seem to have vanished for the most part. Hard to believe as good as the wahoo fishing has been, its over like that.
We got bites right on through the morning up until lunch time. After 12:30 it went dead as dead could get. Around 2:00 we had a couple bites and that was about it for the day.
There are still a few Sailfish around too. We missed 3 of them throughout the day. 2 of them on the riggers and 1 on the HOT CHICKEN. They would knock it out of the clip and then they were gone. Smart Saildogs that got he upper hand on me for sure.
We did not have our best day of the season, but the guys had a great time and they have plenty of meat for the freezer.
We ended up with 2 Wahoo's, 4 Blackfins, 5 King's, 1 Mahi and 3 Stinky's
So, my first season on the RUN-OFF is in the books. I must say, its been one hell of a year.
I would like to thank Captain Brian Harrington for giving me the opportunity to work for him this year. I can not begin to put into words how much I have learned from him this year. Every day on the water I learn something new with him. He is just amazing at what he does. He can find the fish better then anyone I know. Not trying to take anything away from anyone else here, but Captain Brian is freaking awesome at what he does. Make no mistake about it either fellas, he can come down in the pit and run circles around anyone too. I love fishing with Captain Brian because I know without a doubt that we are going to get bites. If we don't catch em....well that's my fault. But, knowing that your going to be in the fish every time you leave the dock is a great feeling when your in the pit. I am really looking forward to next year.
I would also like to thank everyone who fished with us this year. It has been a great time fishing with friends. Most of you I did not know before I started working on the RUN-OFF. So, it was pretty neat to get to know everyone and make new friends. We appreicate your support!!!!
Bluefin season is just around the corner for us. Captain Brian can't wait to get all the small stuff off the boat and load up the 130's. I will keep everyone up to date as we go out and search for the elusive GBFT's.
