RUN-OFF Offshore & Big Rock Report

Thursday June 5th we had an offshore trip. We had Brians group fishing with us. It was a pretty day on the water and the Mahi's were snapping.

We caught plenty of Mahi's for the crowd and had a shot at a Blue Marlin but we ended up pulling the hook.

We ended up with 25 Mahi's that were 308 lbs.

Friday we had David Farringtons group with us again from last year. Another beautiful day on the water catching Mahi's. A little bigger class fish then the day before but not as many. We had a Sailfish that we picked off of the left long as well.

We ended up with 18 Mahi's that were 294 lbs, and 1 Sailfish

Saturday we fished the ladies big rock with owner Katherine Van Sciver and our friends Sandra and Steve.

Lines were in at 8:00 and we were the first boat hooked up at 8:12. We got the stuff cleared and got Sandra in the chair. She fought him for about 5 minutes and the hook pulled. That was all we saw for the rest of that day. The fish was between 500-600 lbs.
We did however get flashed by 4 women on the Sensation while we were fishing that morning.

Sunday we rigged for the Big Rock down at the boat.

Monday we fished the first day of the Big Rock. Never did see a Billfish. However, we had a 32 lb Wahoo sky on the bridge pole that Captain Brian hooked with the circle hook.

Tuesday we fished our second day and we did not see any billfish that day either. Mahi's were some what of a pain in the butt though.

Thursday we fished our third day. We released a White around 10:00 and pulled the hook on another While. We hooked up with a big Blue Marlin around 500-600 lbs at 2:48. We got the stuff cleared and backed down on him for about 8 minutes. Then the hook pulled and off he went.

Friday was our last day of fishing. We released a White around 10:20. The only other shot we had was anothe big Blue on the right long when we were plugging. He popped it out of the clip and took about 2 feet of line and came off. We did see a water spout out there while we were fishing too that was pretty cool though.

Sunday we fished with Tim and his group who we rescheduled from 2 weeks ago on a weather day.
We caught the flip flops throughout the day here and there. Captain Brian hooked us a Wahoo on the bridge pole around noon. We had a White come in the spread that switched off to a dink I was pulling out of the chair on a circle hook. We fed him and hooked him and he came tight. About 30 seconds later we pulled him off.

    We ended up with
