    RUN-OFF DU Report & my fair well

    Friday and Saturday we had Charley Britt, Sydney Britt, Will Booker, Will and Mark fishing with us. Charley's group is the same crowd that has been fishing with Captain Brian for years in this tournament. Charley and Will have been fishing a long time and have been many places all over the world fishing for Marlins. They know their stuff and they are pretty good at hooking em when they come in there.
    Friday we headed out to the fishing grounds and we were all pumped and ready to go.
    Captain Brian had a pretty spot picked out when lines went in at 9:00. It was not long before we had a pair of Whites come in on the right flat and right short. They guys both fed em and only 1 of them came tight just for a split second and he pulled off.
    Around 11:00 we had a Sailfish come in on the right short. He fed him just right but never came tight to him. We did not have any other bites the rest of the day.
    Saturday we put lines in at 8:00. We did not have any bites all day until 1:40. The right teaser reel went ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ and just about gave us all heart attacks. Steve grabbed the right flat and popped it out of the clip. Before he could let the line go the fish took the bait right out of his hands. Steve did a perfect job of feeding him and hooked him up just right. Will was the angler and did a great job. Captain Brian did an awesome job of running the boat as always. About 8 minutes later Steve got the leader on a long skinny White Marlin. We did not have another bite the last few minutes.

    Here is a link to the video that my son took on Saturday;

    Unfortunately, Saturday was my last trip on the RUN-OFF as the full time mate. I will still fill in for him if and when he needs someone. I took a promotion at work as the shop supervisor. That is going to require me to be there 5 days a week instead of 4 or 3 or 2 days a week. Fortunately, I have been able to take as many days off as I needed to for the last couple seasons. This new job will also allow me to spend more time with my son who is growing up fast.
    I can not begin to put into words what its like fishing with Captain Brian. He has taught me so much about so many different things. When I started fishing with him a couple seasons ago I thought I knew what I was doing. I soon found out that I was way behind where I needed to be. Captain Brian took me under his wing and taught me everything he could. I learned how to do everything the Extreme way, which in my book is the only way to do it. Captain Brian and myself both are very particular about our fishing. We like everything to be just perfect. We fish every charter like its a tournament.
    It brings tears to my eyes when I think about it. There is nobody I would rather fish with then Captain Brian. Of course I fish with other people and I will Freelance with other people as needed. But, as many of you know....fishing with THE BEAST is truely awesome. I will miss that more then words can describe. I respect Captain Brian more then just about anyone I know. He is a great Captain, fishermen, Husband, Father and friend.
    Captain Brian THE BEAST Harrington....Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to work with you. Thank you so much for taking the time teach me and have patients with me. Thanks for being a true friend.

    John - excellent report as always!!! I know from talking to you that this is a tough decision to make for you, and one you hated to make!!! It is tought to do the right thing some times but you will NEVER regret taking the time to spend with family.

    You and Brian seemed to make a great team, wish you both the best in the future. Good luck with the new position, sure I'll be seeing you around!

    John, from talking with you over the past couple of years I know how much you enjoy fishing the Run Off with Capt. Brian and how good of a friendship it has become so I know this decision required some thought but it certainly sounds like a great move with the promotion at work. Lil' John is growing up fast so enjoy that time that this move offers you. I know you remain part of the "Extreme" family!!! Good luck bro.

    Without corrective lenses, things are never twice the same anyway.
    And all it really needed was the proper point of view. JT

    Great report there John. I know its got to be hard to go. Brian is a great Capt, I have learned a lot from him as well. You two made a great team. I'm sure you will get a few trips in with him this fall when the Hoos start.

    First congrats on the new job and being able to spend more time with your son. Gotta be a tough decision, but you'll be back out there.

    Second - we'll miss the regular reports from the black boat.
