    Rudee Inlet

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I am headed up to Rudee Inlet to do some striper fishing tomorrow. It seems like it has been pretty good but looking for some pointers or any kind of info about the fishing there. Thanks.

Tough call...the best fishing is still in the bay (season is closed, although you can catch and release all you care too).

You have two choices from Rudee, head south and look for bait/Gannetts or head north to Cape Henry and if you don't see what you like, keep running north up along the eastern Short oceanside. I think the best fishing will come from up north but you never know until you get out there. CH has been pretty steady with some very good days surrounded by some slow days. LOTS and LOTS of school fish inside the bay near the CBBT and LOTS AND LOTS of big fish falling to eels day or night around the High RIse of the CBBT or up along the bay side of the eastern shore. I'm talking 40-50" fish and lots of em'.

My guess is you will find lots of bait from CH north to the mouth of the bay but are the fish with the bait? Some times the fish are away from the bait just a bit but when you mark em', you should get em'.

Good luck out there. I'm thinking about going Thursday.

GOt back from RUdee inlet last night after a day of slooooow fishing. We fished Cape Henry pulling Mojos and stretches and only managed 2 real small fish. Caught 4 or 5 more small fish on light tackle which was fun but not what we were hoping. At least I was fishing and not sittin at home watchin tv. There was tons of bait but the water is still a bit too warm. Talked to a few guys who caught em pretty well at Cape Charles which is quite a bit farther north than we were. Maybe next time.

Sorry for the slow day. I was hoping for a better report since I'm going out of oregon inlet next week. Hopefully they will make a fast swim south by then. I'll give you a report after my trip.

Yes, on Weds the bite was about 8-10 miles north of where you were. Heard it was very good. I went yesterday and ran 30 miles north of Cape Henry. Some fish were caught just none by me. Very spotty. Lots of bait up north and some good fish marks but the bite was off. Ended the day at CH, some fish were caught (spotty at best) but none by me.

First skunko in a long time but it happens.
