RUCKUS RAISER saves the DAY....

this past Sunday as we had aboard a fellow board member and site supporter PAUL708 of JPR RODS. Paul was in the area on a little RNR and we decided to make the long trip to talk some fish into givin up and takin a ride home with us..

We immediately put out the lines once arriving on the BlackJack Hole and started draggin. Water looked good, lots of flyers. Within 5 to 10 the FRED ARCHER RUCKUS RAISER is hammered on the left flat and reel starts screamin. Didnt see what it was immediately, but it didn take long once the big Sail made its first of many leaps. For a few seconds I could just stand as watch as the RUCKUS RAISER trailed beside the Sail in mid air. Everytime hed leap it would crash down on top of him as he entered the water. We all laughed. Wondered what the Sail thought about that. Clearing the lines PAUL took the rod and settled in for the fight. Sail continued with a couple moore jumps and then Paul started getting some back. When we thought we had him comin in for the release and a couple pictures the Sail was gone. Shook loose! Oh well. If we had only known, that would be the only bite of the morning trolling.

Headed back inshore had hoped to put Paul on some jiggin action. Wanted to learn a little about the "new" thing myself. Had some good bottom but just couldnt seem to hookup. Ended the day with a Bonita on the jig and a couple Silver snappers on squid. Knowing the wind was comin late in the evening we picked up and headed home. What a ride! 25 knot winds kept us wet and white knuckled all the way home. Felt bad for PAUL...you took alot of spray! Coulda been worse, Nicholas didnt feel to well either.

He was sellin Cadillacs all day. Tough kid though!!

Maybe next time we'll do better. Enjoyed the company.

I was wondering where Paul was and almost called him last night to make sure all was well.

This year Paul seems to bring rough weather with him when he comes

Yes....He mentioned something about MHC and an UMBRELLA on the ride in. I think he was wishing he'd had it with him on this trip too. Anybody ever tells you a 36 ft CC is dry.....dont believe um!!

Good report Ace! Keep pulling those bars (from the riggers when the tunas are around, 5 - 7th wake) and hold on!!!

JOSH....this one was your JT SPECIAL in green and black with the Cedar Plug colored chaser. Also pulled it out of Oregon Inlet a couple weeks back on the Teaser Reel. Couldnt talk those boys into runnin it from the rod tip. Saw fish under it all day, most of our bites came on the bait fished just behind the Ruckus Raiser. I felt like we were defeating the purpose by using it that way but its hard to teach an old dog new tricks

I hear ya Ace...i laughed in Roddy's face when he handed me that thing at the Miami boat show 4 years ago.

Now i'm laughing at myself for not using these bars sooner!!!

It was great to get invited by ace to get out for a trip.
got the call sat just after we arrived.
he said they were going sunday..great, im in

..tell me when and where.
we met under the 17 bridge at the ramp.

i saw the 36 Triton pilling in,

i was excited to be on that thing..SWEET..

We left in the dark and stopped to make bait.

Then headed off tp the trolling grounds.
The boat ran great.
Started trolling with the RUCKUS RAISER.
that is a sweet setup.
i need to get one of these to try up here

hot hooked up with a sail.

the fish was jumping pretty good. but came undone, after a short fight.

just enough to get everyone excited.

back to trolling.and a barracuda jumped on,

after a short fight we let him go.

did some bottom fishing but the current was ripping.
the bait was working for some nice fish,
here are a few more pics of the trip.
