    Tough trip for us

Arrived at the west elbow around 3:30 pm, not a touch on the troll. Set up for the night around the bend north of 100 square. Genny had a fuel issue, so we fished by the light of the hydroglow.

Around 8, Spongy battled a 44" sword to the boat on a tuna rig. Then Depot had his spinner with a bucktail meant for mahi stripped, probably a wahoo. That was about it for the night, except for one more weak swordy bite.

had alot of life around the boat all night - a pack of mahi that wouldn't eat, a couple wahoo that wouldn't eat, a couple very small swordies, and one lone squid that teased us the entire time.

In the am, trolled the down the west wall to the tip. Had one tuna bite around the elbow that came unbuttoned. Pulling lines in at 11, a 5lb mahi jumped on to save us from the skunk

Choppy and cold ride home, so much for light and variable

Heard of alot of smallish swordfish. Most boats had at least one, some had up to 4. Not many tuna. Heard of one white. Water was cool, mostly mid 60's

We had about 68.5 at the warmest, on the high side of the hundred but we were right at 68 even most of the night. I did hear of a couple swords that were estimated over 200 and a bunch in the 125 range but that's just radio chatter and those could have been 150 and 90-pound fish...lol

Took a southernly route towards the Toms. On the way out, about 60 miles saw some signs of life. Decent color water, some signs of life (shark, turtles, whales) Made it out to west wall of Toms, and started to set up. Found tons of Mahi most of whom wouldnt bite. Started to chunk and found porpoise all around the boat, netted a few squid. Mahi liked the squid. Had a decent fish hit the sword rig at 490ft, brought it "almost" to boat three times before it broke off. Wind picked up, all forms of life took off, and it was a long boring night. In the am, set up for the troll, had 2 knock downs, but that was pretty much it.

Not that i need to state the obvious but not much of a tuna season.
