Pretty cool idea was thrown my way today, you rock Barbaric!!

Bring your boat and lets all go fishing! I don't want to hear it's too far either!!

So the planning starts..

Here are the thoughts

Contender Boats Road trip to Venice, LA

Jan 25th - Feb 3rd 2008

So far we have 2 boats

It will be my 1st time to Venice but I heard about the YFT fishing!

If anyone if interested in further information, any questions give a yell. I will post up information as I get it!

Not sure if I will make the full trip but will be there for a couple of days!

i don't have a contender either....but have wanted to fish there for years!......been trying to get a group from cape may together to spends some time at a fishing lodge to do some yft fishing in feb. & march when the big fish are in.

i went this past May with a group from World Cat for my first ever trip down there - great place, lots of fun. If I had a contender I would sign right up - good luck, hope ya get a good group together - you're sure to have a great time

The run to the hump (s) is only 20 -25 miles out of the pass. Yes the 23 can do it and so can the 21. There will be a fleet out there in late January!
I would jump on this, but will be out of the country that week.

geez - I'd never hear the end of that one from my friends at WC - but of course, who cares as long as I'm fishin right!?!?!?!?!?

squirtis - cannot say exact distance but it is still a pretty good run out there to the lumps. I'm sure your boat could "do it" but not sure I personally would want to go that far for an overnight on a boat that size. Maybe I'm wrong and someone here with more specific info will chime in. The tight seas they get down there make for a tough run in nasty conditions - in any boat.

***did not see previous post - if that is the case then I am wrong and it is not as far as I was led to believe. The Lump bite wasn't happeing when we were there in May so we fished other places. Our guide led me to believe it was a lot farther than that, but maybe he was just talking about the float rigs way out there. If its only that far go give'em hell!!
