Ritchie Howell/Canyon Runner Team Announce the Purchase of New 60' Ritchie Howell

Press Release December 18, 2009 – Ritchie Howell/Canyon Runner Team Announce the Purchase of a New 60’ Ritchie Howell

There has been a ton of exciting developments for the Ritchie Howell/Canyon Runner Team over the past couple months that can only be described as amazing considering almost everyone else in the boating industry is teetering on the brink of disaster. Some of the biggest names in the business out of business. However, the Ritchie Howell/Canyon Runner Team has forged ahead and continues to see Ritchie Howell growing beyond our wildest imaginations. Below is the first of 4 major developments that we would like to share with you.

In what can only be described as the best testament to the superior craftsmanship, performance, structural integrity and luxury that is the 60’ Ritchie Howell “Canyon Runner” there will be a brand new one on the block. You see while some potential boat buyers take one or two sea trials and are sold into buying a boat by a hard core sales pitch from a desperate boat broker trying to just make a sale, the newest owner in the Ritchie Howell family pulled the trigger because he spent close to 50 days in the canyon on the 60’ Ritchie Howell “Canyon Runner.”

Mr. Joe Miele of Brielle, NJ, rode along and assisted the Canyon Runner Team over the last two years as a second captain. He has been on the 60’ Ritchie Howell Canyon Runner from the day it was splashed and knows every little nook and cranny of the yacht.

Mr. Miele has been there from day one to conclude for himself with his own eyes that it is absolutely amazing that the 60’ Ritchie Howell looks as good today as when she first rolled out of the Ritchie Howell’s yard. She looks this good despite over 2000 hours on her with 200 hardcore fishing days in the Northeast Canyons with the world’s hardest fishing crew - all in just a year and half. It’s safe to say that only 1% of 1% of custom or production sport fishing boats are fished as hard as the 60’ Ritchie Howell “Canyon Runner” and it’s also safe to say not many, if any, would look this good, perform this well, and be as good as new as a Ritchie Howell.

Mr. Miele has owned dozens of sport fishing boats during his lifetime and was so blown away at the performance and impeccable structural quality of the 60’ Canyon Runner that he decided he had to have one just for himself!!! In the envious position with his business to have significant leisure time on his hands he needed a boat that was going to stand up stand-up to the rigors of his plans to fish 50-60 days in the Northeast Canyons a year and 100+ days offshore – he didn’t have to look far to find one that could do it.

As such, he put his production boat up for sale, miraculous sold it in a few short weeks, and immediately contracted for a 2011 60’ Ritchie Howell. The jig is already on order and we expect to splash her last winter of 2011. Of course we’ll have to make sure that this new 60’ Ritchie Howell doesn’t look identical to the Canyon Runner, as both boats will be running out of Brielle, NJ, and they won’t.

Mr. Miele is going with a teak tow rail, removable pulpit and removable bow rail as well as an interior that will feature the 3 stateroom 2 full head design of the Canyon Runner but laid out differently to accommodate Mr. Miele’s needs. Powered with CAT C18 ACERTs and built with shaft tubes this 60’ Ritchie Howell should cruise at 36 knots. And for all those folks looking for economy, when turned down to 1825 RPM she should cruise at 32 knots at 70% load and only burn 68 gallons an hour.
