Smile Risky Business Sportfishing MHC Bluefin Report Dec/Jan

Well here we sit waiting for some fish to show up so I thought I would post up whats we have been doing for the past month. Arrived in MHC nov 30th and started fishing right away to an empty sea but by the 5th things started to change and a few boats started to get bit. Then, it started more and moe boats were going off every day with 15 to 20 fish caught and some days and it seemed the average was 10 fish a day for a week or two. The bite was scatterd and you just had to be in the right place at the right time. Asid from that we have had just plain shitty weather fishing in 20 t0 30 knot winds almost every day when they forcast 15 to 20. Its been a challenging year with the scattered bite and grazing giant sheep but when it happens its all worth it in the end. It hapened for us one morning in december an one of the nicer days and there have only been a few of those, anyway we got the spread out and 20 minutes later the shallow planer goes off and then the long rigger joins in......nice we have two on! clear the down line and cut the other rigger and went to work. got the first one in rather quickly 80 incher hits the deck and now we work on the second one which was streached way the hell out there. re-rig the poon get everything back in order and fight the fish for another 20 minutes and hes in range of the poon chuck drives the poon into the fish and we deck the second one, a nice 97 incher. the 80 incher dressed out at 238 lbs and the 97 incher at 372 lbs. Once decked we put two lines back out to try for a third but never got bit. the day before that we got bit and pulled him off so getting that double was rather nice. After that we didnt get anymore bites until after the new year, the bite has fallen off almost completey with a fish or two over the past week to nothing now. But we were trolling home the other day and got bit by a nasty bastard that was full of piss and vinegar. It was rough and this fish was smoking the 130 so I made the call to cut all the lines dont ask how we did it but we got all three lines back..bounus! Got everything cleared and went ot work on this demon fish that just never really stopped running in one direction or the other. but he soon tired against the 40lbs of drag and that was that, sunk the poon and a fat 99 incher hits the deck, that was until we pulled his stomach out he became real skinny. core weight was 387 skinny fish lots of fight. So thats it in a nut shell, gonna pound it out for the next few weeks and hope a new body of fish move in soon because right now its dead as hell. I think once we get a weather change things will improve....no more north west winds....
Here are some picks of the fish with my mate hook jr and chuck (shaqzilla)

Looks like the Bass bite is way off in VA Beach this year. If the cold keeps up the Bass might be down with you by the end of this week!
