    100 and 200lb test.

Yes I use a 1/4 to 3/8 oz chin weight with a medium or large ballyhoo. Small ballys arej too small.

Some people trim the hair on the islander but I do not.

8/0 Mustad...sorry I do not remember the model number. Sharpen the hook and put a sharpie mark on the hook point to protect from corrosion.

I use a chafe protection sleeve around the line at the hook.

What are you fishing for and where abouts ? You could get some different options to look at.

    Yellowfins - 80lb Fluro, mustad 7691 9/0, 1/2oz chin weight, medium hoo's

That's what I've been doing and it works for me.

    What I use

150 lb mono leader with mostly 7691 southern style 8/0 DT hooks. We do use the stainless 7691 ones also but have a few 10/0-11/0's open up down in MHC on nice fish with over 50 lbs of drag and changed to a stronger style hook but that is down there and never had a problem up here as we only fish no more than 20 lbs of drag all stand-up on the smaller tuna. Not convinced the floro adds that much benefit when trolling but who really knows and we do use 200-220 lb floro down in MHC when commerical trolling for GBT. Some lures have bally's with chin weights drilled out and other do not. We caught five bluefin the other day on smaller 6 inch Carolina Gentleman with medium ballyhoo without any chin weights on flat lines wwwwwwwback so again who knows for sure. I think all the previous post are very good ways to rig for bluefin that we see in our waters off DE and MD.
