My guess is no matter how you rig it it will fall appart in about a min. Use them for chunks and bottom bait.

You could try salting them. I have never salted Manhaden but salting toughens up other baits.

    Good Luck,

I roger those rogers. If it were me, I'd go chunking or troll bars or our Spiders that match sand eels on the downrigger instead. Just my opinion, of course.

    Strip Em Out,

Used them just about 100% of the time for hooking king's. Key is to get them fresh (catch them youself if possible) and ice em down real good so they don't go through a "heat". If your not going to use them that day, strip em, salt em and ice heavy. If the truth be known they are awsome bait. We used to get 4 bait's per "fatback". Now these are the big bunker 8, 9 inch fish. Cut down behind the head to the backbone, straight out back through the tail. It's very important to use a real sharp knife so you can fillet the tail too. Take that side and split it in half length wise, down the center of the tail so that you have a little "finger" of tail left. Trim down the meat alittle so it doesn't bunch up un the hook. If done right (yes it takes alot of practice) these bait in a sea witch catch, no doubt. Frank
