    Rigging Ballyhoo with circle hooks

With all the hype in florida recently about grouper closures they are now saying we are going to have to use circle hooks all the time for bottom fish. This is not far off. The delima is we will not ba able to have J hooks on board with bottom fish on board. Ok, If I am out trolling for Dolphin and decide to hit a bottom spot on the way home we cant as long as we have J hooks on board. Looks like we may have to turn the page to circle hooks. Question: I know how to rig for bill fish. How do you rig a circle hook for dolphin and avoid short bites and cut offs? Usually circle hooks are so far up in the ballyhoo dolphin will hit short. How can this be done. Thanks

Thanks for the opinions, I am looking to see how you can get a circle hook placesd to avoid short hits. Do you rig them the same as a J hook? or am I just hosed.

Maybe this is what your're looking for:

These are rigged with Owner tournament legal circle hooks. Very easy to rig and quite effective.

Chuck you are the man, the top hook looks like its set back further. Is the second hook inside the bait or line out side? Is there a video of rigging this way? Alos it looks like they are using wire, can mono be used on that rig?
