Unhappy Rest in peace Amy , A sad day for Paul Mann Custom Boats

A sad day for Paul Mann Custom Boats
by Paul Mann Custom Boats on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 11:09am

It is a sad day for the Paul Mann Custom Boats family of owners and friends. Co-owner, avid sportfisher-woman and fun-loving hostess aboard the Paul Mann 65’ Phat Mann, Amy Granville-Smith lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday April 5, 2011. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her devoted husband Mark Granville-Smith and the family. Those of us here in Manns Harbor have so many fond memories of her role in the building process. She just loved the boat and became emotional when presented with a special Paul Mann necklace. She fished many tournaments up and down the East Coats and enjoyed so many happy days aboard Phat Mann. Amy Granville-Smith understood things; she enjoyed our sport, her boat, her family and her life. Tight lines, forever, friend, you will be missed.

My condolences go out to her family. It is a struggle of emotions and memories when you loose someone so special. Please take comfort in the fact that there are so many friends and acquaintances that are praying for Amy and her family.....................Mark

Mark and I spoke a lot about Amy's struggles and Mark fought for her life and did everything he could and sadly sometimes it's just not beatable. I related very much to Amy and Mark as I lost my mom and day both to this before I even hit 16.

I didn't post this before out of privact but I want Amy's legacy to live on and these were mark and amy's wishes. Shortly here I will set something up to honor their wishes

Tell everyone thank you for flowers. They were awesome. Amy was still in hospital and I brought the SFC card and a photo back to hospital. The list of photos were so awesome and I am so often passing that sfc thread to so many who are just brought to tears by the love from the sport fishing industry.

Amy is now in Hospice care and our future is now in gods hands. Amy has vowed never to leave me- regardless. The story of the last 6 weeks can only be imagined- many downers mostly. Su ups only to be topped by the biggest downer of Amy and I deciding no more dam chemo- pain- suffering.

I am torn between contributions rather than flowers-

I am thinking Billfish foundation and/or university of Va cancer research fund, Innova Fairfax hospital BC. Or georgetown lumbardie research-

Billfish found (or if you think a better fishing org) for obvious reasons +

    Lumbardie center
    Inova fairfax
    UVa cancer research-

all of these groups did 2nd opinions and then continued email advice at no fee advice- long after our original 2nd opinion consultation, we kept finding. more info that should have come from our primary oncologist hmo.

Did you have Photos from when we won MA 500? If so could you somehow put it on a disc for me. I plan on putting it on a disc for Amy's funeral service and if you can't, no big deal. But if you could somehow compile the phat mann photos from both MA 500 where we won and tie for second or any other special photos -

This is so so difficult for me. I can't imagine how I will feel when the day actually comes.

Thank you all for being true friends.

Very sorry for your loss - you were lucky to have someone like that at your side but your time together was cut way too short. May she rest in peace.
