Thats pretty some funny chit Box. I will let Dove Hunt tell you the story of customs and the Airplane that had to wait 10 minutes for us because we were not ready to leave yet while we were in Paraguay. Lets just say Dove Hunt was left speechless.

About Aruba - not sure of time frame but I understand they have a decent sailfish bite and an OFF THE CHART wahoo bite. Butch Cox has the Prime time in Aruba now getting some work done on the boat. He said that one fella had a day where they caught 108 wahoo. that is the number of fish not the weight of one fish. 30-40 fish days are not uncommon their. I assume that it is rough because of the trade winds but I have never been their.

From what I saw Aruba doesn't have to much of a billfish bite (compared to other areas nearby), except possibly on the windward side. I do mean windward---always about 25 - 30, so most boats don't fish there. Usually a stopping off point for boats heading towards Panama, Colombia, or the western Carribean. However, there is some excellent wahoo fishing. Bonair is more a dive spot, once again a stopping off point between Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Those areas are so close to Ven. might as well hop on a bird to SA and get in on the spring blue marlin bite which should be getting heated up in March and in full swing by April.

Getting heated up!!!! - check out Jimmy Grants Report for Mid December

The past four days we had Dan Burt and sons, Mike and David fishing aboard the Waterman. We saw eighteen blue marlin, had fifteen bites and released 10. We were 0-5 on white marlin and 7- 13 on sailfish. The weather has been beautiful.

    Regards,

    Jimmy

I can't imagine what a heated up bite would be

There is usually some excellent fishing in Ven. untill sometime towards the end of Jan. or Feb. when the green water can move in and shut things down for a little bit (though the large yellowfins will be there). When it turns blue again, look out! The last week we were there in '02 we raised 70 blues, then we got the call to return to the state's as the boat was being sold. True it's great now (veriety: i.e. grand slams) but the march through May bite is typically the best for blues.
It's numbers like these that make me want to find another ride over there. Might be rough compared to here (C.R.), might have some political unrest (though you never know other then watching CNN or FOX), we may have large numbers of sailfish in C.R. but for marlin and variety you can't beat Ven.

    Hey Bill,

I just checked and they pushed back the kid's spring break this year. Gets out the 29th of March and returns 9th of April. Now I have a wild hair!
