On Friday Jan 18 we went offshore fishing. It was nice to only go 25 miles. We had three skip baits(ballyhoo) out in the spread. Two on the outriggers and one way back on the rocket luncher.Teasers were run off the middle eye of outriggers. With two pitch baits(Ballyhoo )in the back corner rod holders. First fish up was a sailfish that was stubborn and would not take the ballyhoo pitched to it.It was still neat to watch them come into the spread.Next shot was also a sailfish whitch the mate hooked up and I got to real in. An awesome looking fish and estimated weight 80 ponds. My first sailfish so it made my trip complete. Next we had a dolphin come and the mate pitched the bait to it and hooked up.My brother in law fought it for a good while. It made some great runs and awesome jumps and weighed around 50 pounds. It was the biggest dolpin I have seen. The funny thing was they said that was average size.Next fish in was another dolpin that took the way back bait and my wife fought for a good while and finally brought to gaff.It weighed 30 pounds and was all she could probably handle. Was also her biggest fish.We lost one other fish that jumped and threw the hook and some sails come in and then dissappear. All in all a great trip, but next time I will go in Oct when its peek season there.Live and learn.I will try to get pictures up at a later time.
