Report - Pics of Poorman's with the girls

A great weekend of fishing. I was invited on the Wound Up with Richard Benn and Rob Belcher along with Bob and julia purcell. We fished the baltimore canyon and went 3/4 on whites and missed a pig of a blue marlin. Good enough for 3rd place in the Branch Kreppel Blue Marlin Tournament. On another note - the boat Wound Up (39 Ricky) is just an incredible boat. Quiet smooth and takes a sea very nicely. All our white bites were on the flats so she sucks them up. What a pleasant day.

Sunday got the invite to fish on the Predator with Donnie and Heather Moore and their two daughter Shelby (13) and Maddie (10) and Josh Farr. We started at the 100 line in 300 fathoms. Our spread was 5 naked dinks on Shimano Tyros 20 with 60lb leader. Penn 70 with a pink Squidnation Mini C/horse combo. Ilander daisy on left teaser, pink squidnation chain on right teaser.

We got four baits out and the first 60lb yellowfin on right flat and then the left flat. Double header yellowfins on and maddie got in the chair and heather on stand up. The girls didn't know how much pressure to put on the fish and we didn't want to lose maddie's first tuna. Soooooooooo an hour and twenty minutes later we boxed the 2nd fish and started trolling again. It didn't last long as all rods went down except for the big rod. We also had a 20 tyrnos on the bridge rod. So with 6 on Shelby, Maddie and heather got to work. Josh and I kept the other two coming in but two fish crossed and cut each other off. But since we already had two and didn't much care about these fish we locked up the drags and thumbed the spools and got all four boxed in 15 minutes. Long wait and then a single on the right long. another stud tuna. that was our day.

One thing I always get reminded of when fish with kids and woman. They listen very well and usually the fish get caught! Josh is the man and was a great instructor and motivator. I just took pictures and made fun of them Thanks Donne and Heather for the invite. What a great day on the water!

Got Blue Water? Awesome man! Great pics and a great day. I guess I need to put a Marlin spread out and maybe I will catch some more tunas.

great pics, looks like the perfect day for all. You made a great point about women and kids listening, must be an ego thing with grown men or something. I tell my wife she can outfish most grown men because she keeps an open mind and listens, best way to learn the basics, same with my 4 year old boy. thanks for sharing the adventure.
