That's Excellent Wahoo Bite & Sailfish Releases Too.
Left with the rest of the fleet Sat AM towards the 90' ledge. Lines in around 7AM without a bite for OVER 4 hours! Seemed it was so all over so patience was needed. First planer rod bite boxed us a 20# wahoo. Two more hours, NADA. Started thinking about the bottom fish back-up. We had fished along the SE ledge of the Triple Terrace and out to BR and back where we started. Then FIVE planer bites five minutes apart, all just behind the hook. Moved everything back a bit and got 2 more 20/40# wahoos. No sooner than the last hoo was boxed and the engine starts back to trolling speed and the left long rigger start screaming. Figured it was another hoo... NOPE! Sailfish dancin away. Five minutes into the fight and the right long takes off: Second sailfish. Both fished released without incident. Both sails hit blue/white witches with medium ballys. Didn't see a dolphin all day long.
Many thanks congrats to Patrick McKee of Accutech Air here in MHC for his first sailfish releases (AND coming down on his price to install an HVAC system in our new house here AND for paying for the gas AND for bringing the ice AND for making me run the pit all day AND for making me clean the boat AND for makin the beer run at the docks). But damn, it was worth it!!
