Report illegal foreign fishermen

FEDERAL REGISTER INFORMATION SOLICITATION NOTICE

Under the Magnuson-Stevens Reauthorization Act (MSRA), the United States is required to take action to combat illegal, unreported, or unregulated (IUU) fishing and reduce bycatch of protected living marine resources (PLMRs). Among the actions that must be taken, the Secretary of Commerce is required to produce a biennial report to Congress that identifies nations whose vessels are engaged in IUU fishing and/or bycatch of PLMRs.

In preparation for the first biennial report, which is due to Congress in January 2009, NOAA Fisheries is soliciting information that could be used in the identification of nations. In order to process and verify all information in a timely manner, NOAA Fisheries is requesting that information be submitted by April 21, 2008.

We asked a local marine fisheries guy down here to go check on some of those illegal fishermen and they refused. They said it is an immigration issue.

Now I know that eppefour's post is not about Chico on the bank of the river with a bud can wrapped with line keeping undersized fish, so don't bother writing a long winded response about what it is....
