    I WAS WONDERING HOW PEOPLE WINTERIZE THERE REELS???
    DOES ANYONE SOAK IN A SALT AWAY SOLUTION ???

    i like WD40....i always spray my reels when i put them away for the winter...they always work nice and smooth the next year....and my penn 965 is 11 years old

    its pretty simple, remove all the line, including the spectra ( if have any ).

    lightly rinse any buildup.

    lube all moving parts, spray just a touch of wd40.

    if you have the original box, put them in there, if not a reel bag should do fine.

    and also, do not store in plastics, during the winter cold, with the condinsation ( heater ) can cause moisture.

    I totally dismantle all mine wipe out all old grease and re-grease everything. This might seem overkill but at $600 per reel it is worth it. Plus it lets me know if the reels are getting cleaned properly after each use. Tip-keep all manuals and boxes and most importantly pay attention to the washer oreinatation of the drag.
