Heading to Antigua over Presidents Day weekend and looking for advice/recommendations on a half day charter - prefer offshore but open to inshore as well - any suggestions/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
My wife and I spent our honeymoon @ Sandals/Antigua 11/5/07 thru 11/14/07, we had two charters booked thru the resort and got blown out both times. However another guest there I spoke to did get out on a wahoo trip and got skunked. I have heard in late winter/early spring the wahoo fishing is great.
I can't recall what charter we had booked, I will do a little web searching to see if anything pops out to me.
Fished with Capt. Mike Christmas 2009. Loads of Wahoo bites but got only 3 as I think he keeps his drags a little to tight. http://www.fishantigua.com/
Mike is good, mate was hung over but didnt need him anyway. People in Antigua could give a rats behind about tourists, but mike is the exception.
Captain Mike from Vitamin b is top notch and very friendly He's also a good friend of mine. He is based out Of Jolly Harbour Marina
Captain Mike Won our Wahoo tournament last month Called Best in the West depsite his drags being tight I guess.
Captain Frank Hart from Overdraft Charters is also One of the best Wahoo fishermen in Antigua, He has had 4 days of back to back 20 plus wahoo's last month all on his own, and this guy is in His 60's. Dude's a legend a true tried and tested "seadog"
The wahoo Bite in february is still very good and our Mahi Mahi season is in full swing then.
@Marlin Magnet, Actually we do care alot about the tourist, it's our only industry. But there are exceptions. Anywhere you go in this world you may meet a few bad eggs, But Make the most of your vaca and don't let them bother you. For the most part the ppl are very friendly.
