Up here in the NE the Boston Big Game Fishing Club kites have gathered quite a large following. I am just starting out in the kite fishing stuff but have heard nothing but good about them. I picked one up this past weekend. Short investment and i am told by many that they are the easiest to fly. Green Harbor Bait n tackle sells them or you can get them here

Not exactly sure what the wind range is but have been told by many including Steve James president of the BBGFC it flyes in very light wind and very difficult to retrieve in high wind (above 15 mph). I believe he said it has approx 20sq ft of surface area.. and if it gets in the water you will need to chase it. Oh ya you will definately want to leash your kite rod. It will pull the rod out of the holder..
