Made up a crew and pointed the My Turn toward the Washington this past Sat. Got a fairly early start and had flat seas, so we had lines in the water a little before 7 am just north of the Washington.
Around 0730 we raised a white behind a pink/crystal sea witch. he hung around for a while, but we couldn't seem to get a hook in him. He finally picked up the witch, jumped and spit the hook. Dang
About an hour later, we had a tuna air out behind an ilander sailure. He ate everything but the hook. Double dang
We finally hooked a fish around 0900 - a dolphin which we quickly lost while passing the rod to the angler. Triple Dang.
Around 1130 the long rigger pops and we have a solidly hooked, running fish. My buddy's wife fights it to boat side. Just as I'm getting ready to stick a 50 plus pound wahoo, he gives us a few head shakes and cuts the line......DAMN!
At some point around 1230, the naked flat starts screaming......it was a peanut that popped the clip on a bait set for whites with no drag............slung him in the boat and finally got some meat!
Around 1400 we found a nice rip around 60 fathoms and worked it for about an hour with no love.
That was it for the rest of the day....nice day on the water .......120 lbs of ice does a good job keeping one peanut chilled!![]()
