Question for you guys with Catamarans

Do you feel that you get anymore additional fishing days per year vs a similar sized deep V monohull and would you really run 40 miles to fish in those conditions on those rougher days?

Specifically I mean comparing a 27 World Cat or 26 Glacier Bay vs say a 25 or 27 Contender or 26 Regulator not comparing it to something with less deadrise like a Bayliner or Grady White.

I would really prefer to hear from guys who may have fished both not just speculation from those who have not owned either.

Interesting pairing.... not sure they are equivalent for an offshore comparison..

I don't think he was comparing brands but the deadrise. To the original poster you will get both sides of the fence on this one your gonna have to arrange sea trials for them both.Try to pick a day when the weather is a little sporty make sure you run in all directions ie head sea following sea quartering sea etc.Good luck

Sorry to offend the Grady faithful......perhaps I should have just said "or a monohull with less than 24 degree deadrise".

I want to know if guys who own catamarans really feel that they would fish on any days when a similar sized top tier deep V monohull would not.

    as little as possible

    Cool

i own a 26' GB and have ridden on the others u mentioned offshore except the 27' Contender (soon i hope - buddy just bought one) - i absolutely would NOT fish any more days in the cat than the monohulls. The GB will snap roll in big beam sea and get squirrelly in a big following sea but doesn't pound.

They all have their quirks, ride them all and see.

If you want to _comfortably_ fish more snot days than any 25' - 27' Deep V or a cat, u will need to go longer and wider

I have a 26' GB as well, and and I love it. But I don't go out if the winds are fore ast to be over15 knots; main thing I like is that if I'm out and it kicks up, I don't worry much about making it safely back in and I don't take a pounding. But the bottom line is I'm going fishing to have fun, and if the forecast isn't good I'll wait for another day, not go just because I could.

We owned a 25 Carolina Classic & now own a 23 World Cat. The only advantage the Carolina had was that it was heavier & cut through the chop better. It was pretty much the same on rollers. Having said that, I felt the Carolina was too heavy, & hard to maneuver (among other disadvantages). Bottom line, between Carolina Classic & World Cat, you might get a few more days out of a Carolina Classic, but not many, and the disadvantages of the Carolina Classic far outweigh the extra day or two you get offshore.

    That's just my opinion.

I run a 27 sf world cat and can honestly say its a beast....used to run a 3070 pursuit offshore and have run a 26 regulator 10-15 times and there is no doubt the cat rides much much better plain and simple....My pops has a 33 TE and that is a real beast...have ran right past many 40' boats with ease on some snotty days...I fish alot more with a cat than I did with the monohull

We run a 28 Pursuit and fish on a 33 TE World Cat just about every week. The 33 is the best fishing platform I have ever been on. We ran 45 miles in 6 footers at 26 knots and never once pounded. The boat honestly never pounds. We do get wet though. I think we get more fish days on the Cat becuase of it's ride and fishability. On the drift it is as stable as a dock too. I know you asked about the 27 Cat but if you can afford it the 33 is the cat to have.
