Don't mean to jump on the bandwagon, but as for Southports, they were designed specifically for four stroke engines. Most boats were taking their hulls which were designed for two strokes and slapping the much heavier four strokes and expecting them to ride the same. The Southport was the first to design their hull to utilize the weight of the fourstroke engine to their advantage. We own a 26 footer and love it. The only problem we have is we can't get down to the beach enough to fish it like she ought to be fished. The Southports' beam is amazing for their length in their class as well and the owners of the company came together from Hatteras, and some other mega boat builders to make a CC built like a tank, using ideas from yachts on a CC. I am not a salesman, but I know this because of the research I did before we bought the boat. I am proud of that decision.

I fish a 25' 1979 Mako. The hull is in great shape. I repowered her with a 250 Etec, rewired, new steering. This boat is heavy. I truly believe she handles like a 28 footer. I have been out when the wheather kicked up to 5-7. I am not going to lie I was shook. The boat handled amasing, but I did get wet. She is a very wet boat, but she doesn't beat you up. I agree with the majority, you need to seatrial a lot of boats.
id have to say the only negative about cats(well atleast ours) is when we are not running right into waves the boat does rock pretty hard side to side.

"tight lines and good times"
thats because the GB sponsons are a lot narrower particularly in the bow but that is what makes it sliced so good .
well I guess you will just have to fish with us on Bills boat!!!!!
