    question for Alantani ??

Can you please explain the advantages of the new japanese spectra

"this is dean takahashi. he's the guy that is importing this new thinner japanese braid. i'm going to get all of my new accurates strung with his hollow core spectra. no more bimini's and albright's. everything is going to be spliced from now on. i was amazed at how busy his booth was for the entire day. "

    Thanks in advance

Dude, your post is a bit confusing. New japanese spectra? What does that mean? Dean is a partner in the company 'Blackwater' that offers new fluoro and spectra manufactured by Toray. Both of these products are the chit, why wouldn't speak to Dean directly instead of some public cry for Alan? Do you need a #?

My post is a cut and paste from one of Alan's threads.

Because Alan posts very informative , detailed posts on this site , Dean doesnt. Dean also has a product too sell, so I am sure he has nothing bad to say about his product. I would rather here it from a neutral party.

The intention of the post was to get a discussion started on this new spectra for the benefit of the board .

Bigeye10, you could try to PM him a link to this thread. He may not check all the forums.

Still a bit confusing, sounds like the c&p referred to a picture of Dean and then there was no picture. Alan is indeed a pretty informed guy, but since you saw his reference to the product already you'd know he hasn't tried it yet and the advantage that struck him is the thinner diameter.
What is innovative is that they have 50lb hollow and a 100lb hollow that breaks at 117lb, which is something that no competitor offers. All spectra is woven with the same Dyneema thread, the weave is what primarily separates different vendors. In this case the other difference is that Toray is behind it and also manufactured it.
The problem with you trying to start a discussion is that noone in webland has a good handle on this stuff yet. You would be much better served calling Dean and informing yourself thru his expertise and then sharing with everyone else. Perhaps your own common sense can filter what you may percieve as possible overexuberance on the designers part.
