Drew, why is it confusing? Someone other that Alantani can chime in too. Bigeye is throwing out a question on the internet to get some feedback. By your thinking we shouldn't bother asking any questions on any board and just talk to manufacturers/dealers and take their word as gospel. That defeats the purpose of internet forums.

The confusing part is that it opens with 'This is Dean'..., and there's no Dean and there's no statement that said it was a c&p. And he refer's to japanese spectra when he clearly knew the name of the company that alantani spoke of and they are based right here in the US.

As for the rest of your statement, that's just wrong. A discussion would be better served if he got some info from all available sources at his disposal and then throw it on the net. Like I said already, noone has fished this stuff, so you can't get feedback YET. Dean is the designer, I thought I was pretty clear by implying not to take his word as gospel, but rather use any info you may gather from him and take what you feel is important.

And I just saw a post from alantani so he's around.

I have used thinner Japanese PE line called YGK's Ultra Jigman extensively last two years.
The line rating of PE 5 (50 lbs) is 78 lbs and PE8 (80 lbs) is 116 lbs.
I found the ratings are way overrated in real fishing situation.
I lost many nice tuna because I believed their advertisement.

Daiwa advertises their new Dendoh PE (braided) line as saying their PE8(80 lbs braided) is rated as 100 lbs line, but my friend found it breaks less than 80 lbs.

you are correct, there was a picture of dean with his booth at the fred hall show, that didnt make the cut and paste . I thought the picture and the caption , would help Alantani with his reply.

    quick look

i stopped by the blackwater booth quickly at the fred hall show in long beach as dave brackman was there and asked me to check it out. thing i liked the best was the density of the hc because this helps greatly in keepng your mono from continously poking thru as you are threading it (serious pain in the butt) also the thin diamter and high breaking strength was impressive. they had a busy booth and where doing some nice demos for people.
