anyone ever been there?
''MATE-TRIX Sportfishing''
I stayed at Si Como No about 8 yrs. ago. It was a short walk one way to Manuel Antonio and about equal distance the other way to town and the Moorings (now Pez Vela). We fished offshore every day while We were there but a couple days We got back early. We caught from the bridge in town, the beach and My Buddy was even spooled while sitting on a surfboard about 100 yds out in front of the Hotel! I do not think You will be disappointed if You take plugs, poppers and bucktails. Take a bunch of live bait set-ups with strong leaders too. I took a 7' Lami-Glass with a FinNor Ahab reel spooled with 20# test. We caught Roosters tons of small Tarpon and Snook. The locals were handlining from the bridge 24/7 hurtin what I think were some sort of Bass. Have fun and take a ton of pictures.
Oh and the landing strip in Quepos....Have a few drinks in San Jose first!![]()

I used to go down to quepos every year for about 10 years. We mostly billfished off shore, but also did a good bit of shore fishing as well.
The pier where the boats come into has a long breakwater/ rockjetty beside it. Ive seen the locals catch alot of roosterfish there, some upto 40 pounds. These are alot of cuberas and other mis. snappers there as well(I saw these snorkling around the jetty).
Under the pier there are more snappers (structure) and snook under there.
The local river mouths are also hotspots for snook on the full moon(just be wary of the crocadiles)
Id carry a bunch of sabikis, in various sizes.
Some big top water plugs, some irons(think tadys, hopkins, flatside jigs).
Some plastics(various sizes, various sise lead heads as well)
Atleast 1 big spinning rod with full braid(you will want the extra line capacity)
A medium rod for catching bait, goofing off.
I carry some 30, 50 and 80 pound leader spools
live bait hooks in 5/0-7/0- and 8/0
some egg sinkers 1/4 to 1/2 oz in length
and maybe a pack of light wire, #4, there are alot of sierra mackeral around.
A good pair of gloves and sunglasses, sunblock(ofcourse).
And dont forget the camera.
The landing strip there is a hoot, the first time I thought we were going to crash, NOPE, JUST GETTING THE CATTLE OFF THE RUNWAY.
might try to get up Dave at fishlamanta.com He is who I used to fish with and I know he does alot of shore based trips when hes not chartering.
