After 2 months of helping Momma with the newborn, it was finally time to try to make a little money. Dad and I had decided we would do a three day stretch - Friday through Sunday.
We had heard of some bites SW of the BM Bouy. So Friday, we left out at O'dark thirty and fished all day down on the marks. We had one hit on the shallow planer line that didn't come tight. Other than that, we were in the bite all morning and our ticket never came up. We stuck it out and came home in the dark.
Dark to Dark is a long day.
Saturday was overall a big suck fest for the fleet. No bites.
Sunday we started out on a wreck and I heard they were airing out 1 mile south of us, so we moved that way. As I pulled in, I marked 4 good fish. Hung a U turn and watched Shane and Rick hook their first fish of the day. Stuck around until noon and ran 43 knots back to the inlet. No bites.
Three days with nothing to show but some good times with Dad. I'll take it. We had good position all three days, I just have to chalk it up to putting in my time.
Back to it next weekend.
Over the past few days I have heard of bites from a 91" at Ocracoke to a 76" at Cape Fear and everywhere in between.
