Those guys are hard core. Is it not easier(safer) to use a wind-on? From that high camera shot it really puts things into perspective.

Isn't there a vid that Marty posted showing whitey taking care of a whitey in quick order?
Those are some very impressive videos. I havnt pulled on alot of big marlin but I have pulled on a few. It is hard to get good at it when you only catch a few. I go with the safe get some when I can and dont be a hero and try to hold on. In the MidAtlantic a couple years back I wired a small blue marlin in the mid 200s and I tried to hold on and blew the tips of my fingers out. We caught the fish on a lure on a 130 it took maybe 8 minutes to get to the leader.
Take about 30' of 400# a 5 gallon bucket filled half way with concrete and drag it behind the boat at 6 knots...
I know its not jumpin like a fish but he will learn how to wrap and how to let go keepin him self clear
boating magazine January 2002 (page 116 ..) Scott Levin has some great tips and the drawings on how to wrap are great and have helped people on my boat understand how to pull on a fish and be able to be in control, let go or take the fish. the whole article was great but the page of wiring has made it easy for people.
