I have yet to see a bad piece. Hear people speak of bad batches but I have yet to see one. Been through ten thousand yards of the stuff....can't remember a single failure that was not user error. The red will fade faster, but all of it will turn white eventually....even the green fades. That said....I have never spooled a reel with anything other than moss or hi-vis. If Captain Troy's been using it for three years....I'd say that's good enough for me.

yeah , i have ALOT of reels spooled with it, and havnt had any problem with it, but i have heard and seen first hand of a bad batch or red.

it would just break out in the middle of the line very strange.

i aint gona stop using it. bad batches happen.

Your response further validates my position.....USER ERROR....exactly why you've never had issues with it. You know what your doing....
I will repeat something I've said a bunch....IF YOU RUN IT THROUGH A THUMBDINGER to pack the spool tightly......you've likely ruined the line and melted the protective coating off of it. Fill the spool....then dump it behind a moving boat with nothing on the end of it. Reel it back in getting tension from the water and not touching the line. You will have no issues.
Also, if you break snags free with the tension coming from the spool you'll likely cut into your spool and nick the line somewhere....Later it will break for no apparent reason....huh....
You hang up....wrap the line around a round dowel a few times and pop it free with your hand....another way to prevent the problems associated with it.

I am not saying there's never been a bad batch....just saying of the 25-30 spools of it I have purchased...I've been lucky and never had one.

I usually do this with a small lead tied to the end. Why do you do it freeline?

dont get the spin from freelining it like you do w/ a sinker spinning. i do the same thing sometimes if i had a fish run really far, then hooks pulled or something to where the line is very loose on top.

    ill field this one geoff.

Thumbdinger~ Thumb-Ding-er- A common term used to refer to how a reel was spool. I.E someone holding the line with their thumb tightly to apply added pressure to the spool while spooling a reel, Perhaps a towel or rag was used to aid in the tensioning of the line and being dry caused much friction. Therefore making the line weak because of the massive heat cause by dry line and a tightly held thumb and forefinger.

Used In A Sentance~ That guy is having problems with his line because he spooled it thumbdingerishly.

That for sure won't happen. Shimano bought them out and changes formulas and raised prices.

Anything extra attached to the line causes more twists not remove them.

User error, that is a joke right. I contacted Powerpro directly when I had problems ( multiple ) and they said it happens occasionally when the line gets spun together and sent me a new hat, decals and new spools of line. I have had so many problems while jigging you couldn't offer to buy me a lifetime supply and me put it back on any of my rods, including inshore stuff for trout and reds. There are too many other great lines out there for me to waste my time on the water and loose big fish and all rigs and jigs that are attached to the end of the line. Never again. Jerry Brown and Tuf-Line XP have never failed me in 3 years since and I won't look back. By the way enjoy your PP!!! I just hope it never costs you a big fish and whatever else is tied on the end.
