Fishing this past week in Islamorada has seemed to be a little on the slow side. It seems as if we are just coming to the end of the change-over period. This week the Yellowtails and Mangrove Snapper bite has somewhat faded down but all the fish we are catching have been quality fish up to the 5 pound mark. One of the things we are focusing on this time of year are the Permits. There seems to be a few healthy schools around. These fish can be caught around wrecks and other structures by sight casting live crabs.

On the Offshore side of things the Blackfin Tuna fishing has slowed to a steady 6 to 8 bites a day. On our way out to the Humps we have been taking our time and trolling but always picking up a dozen or so dolphin up to 8 pounds on the troll and lots of Schoolie sized fish on the spinning rods. The weather has started to break and the winds are laying out so we are right back to fishing tomorrow.

Captain Clyde reports the following: I caught three tarpon on a morning half today. The Red fish and trout fishing is excellent in the back country. The Dolphin bite is getting better each day.

That bright sun and blue water sure beats the chocolate milk water here in the Chesapeake and the daily rain.

The pollen just came on strong too. UGH!

Keep the reports coming, even slow fishing is better than no fishing.
