    Press Time fishing report 6/27

We fished a little north of the Washington today in two hundred fathoms. We managed to catch a 210 pound bigeye and one 40 pound yellowfin. We had one more bigeye bite and one more yellowfin bite that never came tight. Overall fishing was a little tough. Most boats seemed to have between two and four yellowfins. It did seem like there was a nicer class of fish. There seemed to be more keepers than throw backs. Hopefully this trend will continue and we will see some more consistant fishing.

Nice job on the big eye, good to see them showing up out there. I gotta tell ya that is a sweet rig you run, I admire it every time I get over to the fishing center! Did you use to work for jimmy hudson on the fishin mission? If so I think my family and I fished with you one time ( did really good chunkin for some big yellowfins), Had a great time out there.

Luke..I thought i passed you guys near the 800 square. Way to go on the Big Eye. I heard of 2 others caught.
Seemed a little slow on the yellowfins but nicer class of fish as you mentioned. We stopped short due to some engine trouble and got hammered with bluefish inside rockpile. No tuna for us and got our butts kicked with that weird fog and the nice nw wind and seas.
    Keep up the good fishing!

I did work on the fishin mission for five years. Next time you get by stop and say hello. I always like catching up with past charters. That was back when we had some great tuna fishing. I do miss doing a little chunking, catching a limit and getting home early. Seems like there hasn't been much to it the last few years. I think we got spoiled with all those fish.
I made it as far north as the 900 line and as far south as the corner in the Washington. Seemed like we were chasing bites all day long. There was really no consistency to it. The bites were all over the place. It was hard to concentrate on one area.

It's refreshing to hear a well respected OC Capt not poo pooing the C word.

    Great report Capt. Luke.

    Thumbs up Awesome job!

    Hey Luke,

Great job on the bigeye!!! It was slow out there on Saturday. We only had one bite yeilding one 40# yft. Plus we had our ass handed to us on the way in. What time of day did your bigeye bites happen, and how deep were you?

We love your ride too. In fact, Ritchie is building us a 42 express boat right now...so hopefuly no more getting our ass handed to us.

Also, I know the guy who caught the blue with you during the WMO...great job on that too!!!

    AWSOME EYE!!!

Our story was pretty much identical to Curtis', sans the one yellowfin. Man that chop sucked. Covered waters from 500 fa to the Hambone and only had 1 bluefish to show for it.
