Possible updated change to the IRBA Marlin Tournament

Due to recent feedback the officers and directors are in reviewing a possible change to keep marlin money away from the Tuna division.
    Possabilities are

1 The developement of a release catagory with provisions to provide proof of the catch that will win the marlin catagory(s) if no marlin are killed that qualify.(cameras and colored arm bands to record the release with a release point system)

2 Refunding all callctta moneys in the marlin catagories if no winning marlin is caught and killed White or Blue.

As of now NO changes are being made and the tournament will run according to the rules outlined until further notice, changes could be as late as Thursday evening at the captains meeting.

I'm all for either of the two possible changes. With the release category will you have a radio with the ability to reach everyone so that we can use the correct arm band for each release or is that not the way you are planning on doing this? Also thanks for considering possible alternatives for doing things if the qualifying fish is not caught.

    First ammendment to official rules.

One change is certain at this time the length will be the kill factor, there will be no limit based on the weight other than the heaviest fish killed will win its division. The Marlin MUST meet the length requirements to be brought to the scale 70" White and 110" Blue, winner(s) will be determined by the weight of the fish.

To be very clear even if a 70+ pound white is brought in it will not be weighed if it is not 70"s fork length as well a Blue will have to measure 110" forklength or it will not be weighed.
We will NOT entertain calculated weights based on girth X girth X length divided by 800 to determine weights...THE FISH MUST MEASURE TO LENGTH TIP OF LOWER JAW TO FORK OF TAIL TO BE SCORABLE!

Please understand these limits where set intentionally to keep from killing off marlin quotas that could in fact effect bigger tournaments than ours. We are already planning very hard to set-up next years tournament as the director and a marlin conservationist it is very difficult to please everyone, I have heard the gambit from we should be running strictly release tournament all the way to we should lower the limit to kill more fish. I feel we have set this up in the middle somewhere and hope to have a great tournament and it will be the foundation of many more and better tournaments as we strive to improve with input from all.
Looking forward to meeting all of you tomorrow evening.
    Thank You

Will we be getting a packet of the new updated final rules at the registration/captains meeting tomorrow?

Also, registration starts at 6 correct? and this is also when the captains meeting begins?
