    possible fla relocation

Hello all. I have an opportunity to relocate with my current employer to the boynton beach area. I am familliar with the area, but not too much with the offshore fishing scene. I currently run a 28 cc up here in NJ (cape may)

?? how would you all rate the offshore trolling/ bottom fishing??
what is the best season of the year???
what does it take to get into a yellowfin tuna bite. (it will be tough for me to give up tuna fishing, but i would like to get into the wahoo/sailfish bite)

any info would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks
    erik

You're correct. You will be giving up the yellowfin. Your best bet for those would be to run to west end, bahamas. ~60-70nm. Winter through spring is sailfish. Wahoo are around most any time of the year. Spring you will get into some nice size dolphin. Swords at night I think are anytime of the year you can get out there.

He pretty much nailed it. There are Blue Marlin around, bottom fishing is good, nite swords instead of canyon tuna. You will not burn much fuel, that is for sure but will be spending more on bait.

I love South Florida fishing, but I am always amazed at how Florida guys look at a 60-70 mile run. Up here we don't even pull back on the sticks until we are at least 60 miles off and 90 mile runs are not uncommon.

At Boynton you have blue water a half mile out the inlet... The inlet itself sucks, actually a drainage ditch with shoaling issues but not impassable...
Sails from late fall through spring. Good dolphin fishing all year. Kings most of the year. A stray marlin to be had. Good swording year around about 13 miles off the beach but you gotta run farther south cause the stream is usually rockin along at 2-4 knots... Inside you got snooks, macks and pompano...

60 mile off Boynton will have you aground on the Bahama Bank.
